Job summary

EDF Energy Limited seeks an experienced Estimator for the Sizewell C project, feeding into the Lead Estimator to standardise estimating approaches. You will develop estimates from first principles and mentor junior staff while engaging stakeholders for pricing decisions.

The role involves preparing documentation for internal and external assurance, and presenting prices to senior leaders and partners with integrity and clarity.

Qualifications

• Infrastructure main contractor background in civil engineering.
• Experience with AACE estimating principles and maturity models.
• Desirable flexibility and mobility for site work across locations.

Responsibilities

• Feed into the Lead Estimator and Head of Estimating to standardise client-estimating approaches.
• Collaborate with Lead Estimator or independently to prepare estimating docs for assurance.
• Develop estimates from first principles for Sizewell C work packages.
• Support Estimating lead to ensure consistency with client expectations.
• Mentor junior estimating team members and lead price development.
• Engage stakeholders to produce, present and justify estimates to leaders and external partners.

The purpose of the role is:

• Feeding into the Lead Estimator and the Head of Estimating on the project to ensure consistency in estimating approach set out by the client.
• Work closely with a Lead Estimator or on own to produce various estimating documentation that can be assured both internally and externally.
• Developing estimates from 1st Principles associated with the work package of the Sizewell C Project.
• Feeding into Balfour Beatty Estimating lead on project to ensure consistency in estimating approach set out by the client.
• Be a senior member of the team developing the price, mentoring and supporting more junior members of the estimating team.
• Stakeholder management to produce the Estimate e.g., planning, procurement etc.
• Presenting, negotiating and justifying prices produced in an open and honest manner to both senior leaders within the business and/or external customers/partners.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

• Proficient in the use of excel and similar software.
• Excellent client facing/communications skills

Desirable

• Experienced estimating background using Candy Estimating Software.
• Experienced estimating background using RIB Cost X Quantification & Estimating Software.
• Experience of working with the AACE principles of Estimating Class and associated maturity
• Mobile and flexible

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Infrastructure Main Contractor background ideally in the civil engineering market.
• Commercial or operational background considered.

Desirable

• Chartered by relevant industry recognised chartership e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB Etc
