Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting a Senior Estimator to lead estimates and tender submissions for major Overhead Line projects up to 400kV across the SSE transmission network. You will develop robust, commercially sound estimates and work closely with Engineering, Commercial, and Procurement teams to ensure GP and governance requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Significant estimating experience in construction, utilities, energy or infrastructure.
• Proven ability to produce detailed estimates for large-scale multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.
• Experience analysing cost data and benchmarking information.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for major OHL transmission projects.
• Review tender documentation, specifications and client requirements.
• Produce quantity take-offs, BOQs and detailed pricing using Candy estimating software.
• Evaluate construction methodologies and supplier quotations.
• Develop cost analyses to support tender submissions.
• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted on time.
• Maintain estimating records and audit trails.
• Attend Gate Review meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Support negotiations, presentations and post-tender reviews.
