Job description

Our client, a leading groundworks contractor based in Welwyn Garden City, is seeking a Senior Estimator to join due to an increased workload. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that has been established for over 30 years and is considered one of the leading groundworks contractors in London and the South East.

With over 70 employees in their head office and over 1000 site staff, our client’s turnover is circa 130 million a year, and they're currently Investors in People gold accredited, which highlights that they are currently an Employer of choice within the market.

It is expected that the Senior Estimator will have significant experience working on groundworks, concrete frames, and temporary works projects with typical project packages ranging from £5 million up to £50 million in value.

Senior Estimator Salary & Benefits

1. Salary: £100,000 to £120,000
2. Holidays: 25 days plus Bank Holidays
3. Employee Ownership Trust: bonuses based on company performance (not guaranteed) - can earn up to £3,500 bonus tax-free on those payments, dependent on length of service and seniority of position.

Senior Estimator Job Overview

1. Joining the Pre-Construction team and reporting to the Director.
2. Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for groundworks and steel frame projects, including excavation, drainage, foundations, and site preparation.
3. Lead the preparation and submission of tenders and bids for projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
4. Work with junior estimators, providing guidance and ensuring high-quality work.
5. Delegate tasks effectively within the estimating team to meet deadlines and project goals.
6. Use Bluebeam and Excel to enhance efficiency and accuracy of estimates.

Senior Estimator Job Requirements

1. Significant estimating experience within the Groundworks / Steel Frame sectors.
2. Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
3. Excellent understanding of groundworks processes, materials, and equipment.
4. Proficiency in Bluebeam or similar software.
5. Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
6. Attention to detail and accuracy in estimates.
7. Commutable distance to Welwyn Garden City - Position office-based with no hybrid working available.
