Job summary

Build Space in East London seeks a Senior Estimator to lead cost planning and pricing for refurbishment, retrofit and planned works, mainly for social housing and public sector clients. You will manage tenders, analyse drawings and supplier quotations, and drive pricing strategy.

The role requires 5–10 years in estimating, excellent Excel skills, and a proactive approach to risk and opportunities. A UK driving licence is preferred, with learning and development emphasized.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years estimating experience.
• Background in refurbishment and planned works.
• Social Housing or Public Sector experience.
• Pricing projects from £100k to £10m+.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Confidence working with clients and operational teams.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Bonus if retrofit/decarbonisation or M&E experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating on refurbishment, retrofit, planned works and construction projects.
• Prepare detailed estimates, cost plans and pricing strategies.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents, and manage clarifications.
• Obtain, analyse and level subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities, and produce tender adjudication reports.
• Support bid/no-bid decisions and coordinate pricing across opportunities.
• Contribute to win strategies, value engineering and client interviews.
• Support mobilisation and procurement for projects.
• Maintain benchmarking data and feed lessons learned into future bids.

Senior Estimator roles & responsibilities:

• You'll lead estimating on refurbishment, retrofit, planned works and construction projects worth £100k to £10m+, mostly for social housing and public sector clients. Your tenders will directly drive the business's growth.
• Prepare detailed estimates, cost plans and pricing strategies
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents, and manage clarifications
• Obtain, analyse and level subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities, and produce tender adjudication reports
• Support bid/no-bid decisions and coordinate pricing across multiple live opportunitiesContribute to win strategies, value engineering, client interviews and presentations
• Support project teams through mobilisation and procurement
• Maintain benchmarking data and feed lessons learned back into future bids

Senior Estimator experience rqeuired:

• 5-10 years' estimating experience
• A strong background in refurbishment and planned works
• Social Housing, Local Authority or Public Sector experience
• A track record of pricing projects from £100k to £10m+
• Strong commercial awareness and Excel skills
• Confidence working with clients, consultants and operational teams
• Ambition and a drive to take the next step in your career
