Job summary

AWE plc is seeking an experienced Estimator to join the Project Deliver team in Reading. You will bring your cost-estimating expertise to develop credible cost bases, plans, and data to support projects and programmes across the portfolio.

You will apply best practise estimating policy, influence decision making, and mentor teams while maintaining high standards of HSEQ and CPD with a focus on delivering value and clarity in complex environments.

Qualifications

• Experience developing complex cost estimates for projects and programmes.
• Experience applying estimating policy, processes and procedures.
• Background in estimating, cost engineering, quantity surveying, commercial or cost planning.
• Active member of a professional body and CPD commitment.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of complex cost estimates for an agreed scope and approach.
• Provide estimating input to performance reporting, risk and change assessments.
• Write estimate plans, develop and assemble estimate data, review estimates and write estimate bases with assumptions.
• Where required, lead, coach and develop a team and influence others at specialist level.

• Support the P3M Function and Project Controls Capability Lead with upholding a professional, credible and resilient authority across the business.
• Apply best practise estimating policy, processes and procedures on projects and programmes.
• Leads the development of complex cost estimates, for an agreed scope and approach
• Providing estimating input to performance reporting, risk and change assessments.
• Write estimate plans, develop and assemble estimate data, review estimates and write estimate bases with underpinning qualification and assumptions.
• Where required, lead, coach and develop a team and influence others at specialism or functional level to create and deliver project, programme and portfolio plans
• Provide support, guidance and coaching for the Project / Programme / Portfolio teams. Inspire and drive high performance through the engagement and development of individuals promoting a psychological safe, diverse, and inclusive environment that encourages them to seek opportunities for continuous improvement and personal development
• Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
  Background in Estimating, cost engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial, Cost planning.
• Experience in Stakeholder management skills with ability to collaborate at all senior levels.
• Good standard of general education, including engineering, technical or management qualifications or equivalent or proven level of experience.
• Be an active member of a relevant of a Professional Body and willing maintain CPD.
  Package: 38,030 - 75,930 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience), 9-day working fortnight - meaning you get every other Friday off work, in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.
