Job Purpose:

To prepare, manage and supervise accurate estimates for major infrastructure projects to support delivery of business objectives including relationship with subcontractors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the achievement of Health and Safety in accordance with company policy
  • Responsible for preparing, managing, supervising and taking accountability for the development of cost estimates in support of project and business objectives.
  • Review tender documents and drawings
  • Create detailed cost risk analysis and work breakdown analysis to ensure the production of high-quality cost estimates.
  • Identify and prepare risks and opportunities register
  • Compile and supervise enquiries and procure quotes for materials and sub-contract packages
  • Contact supply chain for quotes clarifications
  • Prepare comparisons of quotations
  • Conduct analytical estimation of prime costs using estimating software (Candy preferred)
  • Liaise closely with tender planner and agree methodology and sequencing
  • Prepare tender settlement meeting review reports and supporting information
  • Prepare submission documents and ensure timely delivery
  • Contribute to mid-tender and post-tender meetings as necessary
  • Prepare and hand over secured tenders to the project team
  • Ensure full compliance with core process procedures throughout tender period
  • Estimate preliminary costs, including escalation
  • Promote company values in all dealings with employees, clients, subcontractors, and external contacts
  • Understand contractual risks in NEC and other infrastructure contracts
  • Update date basis of rates and suppliers

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience as an estimator for large-scale projects, particularly roads and motorways including structures.
  • Extensive experience liaising with the supply chain
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Team player
  • Responsive to meet tender submission deadlines
  • Presentation skills (written and verbal)
