Job summary

Bimplus in Bedford is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function on residential and infrastructure groundworks projects, producing competitive and commercially sound tenders from enquiry through to submission.

You will work with the Commercial Team and Operations to ensure estimates are accurate and aligned with strategic objectives, review drawings, take-offs, supplier quotations, and support value engineering while mentoring junior estimators.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within the groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Experience pricing earthworks, drainage, foundations, highways and external works.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Carry out accurate quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Develop pricing strategies for competitive tender submissions.
• Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender process.
• Attend tender review meetings and client interviews where required.
• Liaise with commercial, operational and engineering teams to ensure successful project handovers.

The Role:

As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the estimating function on a range of residential and infrastructure groundworks projects, producing competitive and commercially sound tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.

Working closely with the Commercial Team and Operations Department, you will ensure estimates are accurate, competitive and aligned with the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Carry out accurate quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Develop pricing strategies for competitive tender submissions.
• Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender process.

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within the groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
• Strong understanding of residential groundworks and infrastructure projects.
• Experience pricing earthworks, drainage, foundations, highways and external works.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to working with internal teams and clients.
