Job summary

Shirley Parsons is partnering with a leading utilities and infrastructure organisation to hire a Senior Environmental & Sustainability Advisor in the UK. The role is hands-on, site-based, and focused on protecting the environment while keeping essential services running.

You will support major repair works, drive compliance, and lead sustainability initiatives. You will engage with on-site teams, perform EMS audits, and contribute to reporting on carbon, waste, biodiversity and plastics.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in environmental discipline or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and best practices, ideally with permitting/consents experience.
• On-site working capability with proactive inspections and sampling support.
• Passion for sustainability, waste, biodiversity, and environmental reporting.
• Confident communicator capable of influencing stakeholders and driving improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance to support planned/reactive works and embed best practices on site.
• Conduct environmental inspections and audits; support sampling and incident investigations.
• Drive regulatory compliance and ensure environmental requirements are met.
• Contribute to quarterly reporting on carbon, waste, biodiversity and plastics.
• Deliver EMS audits and training; support operational teams to improve performance.
