We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join our team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of environmental and sustainability objectives across our operations.

This is a varied and rewarding position where you will work closely with operational teams, clients, regulators and other stakeholders, providing expert guidance to help ensure works are delivered responsibly, compliantly and with the environment at the forefront of decision‑making.

The role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact, influencing environmental performance, driving continuous improvement and supporting the delivery of both legal and voluntary sustainability commitments.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved with...

  • Providing expert environmental advice and support across all phases of planned and reactive works
  • Establishing baseline environmental conditions and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Undertaking environmental inspections and audits
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting on environmental performance
  • Preparing and reviewing Environmental Management Plans (EMS), waste management plans, material management plans and emergency response procedures
  • Delivering environmental training and awareness programmes across the business
  • Supporting the investigation of environmental incidents, near misses and non‑conformances, identifying lessons learned and opportunities for improvement
  • Working collaboratively with clients, regulators and operational teams to promote best practice and positive environmental outcomes
  • Supporting the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programmes

We would love to hear from you if...

You have a strong background within the environmental sector, together with a detailed understanding of environmental legislation, compliance requirements and industry best practice. You will be comfortable providing advice and guidance across a range of operational environments and able to build effective relationships with colleagues, clients and regulatory bodies.

You will have experience of environmental permitting and consents processes within construction, infrastructure or utility projects, including the preparation, coordination and management of applications. Experience working alongside specialist disciplines such as ecology, archaeology, arboriculture and water environments would also be highly beneficial.

Additionally, you will have a sound understanding of waste management, environmental compliance and environmental management systems. You will also have experience gathering, analysing and reporting environmental data, including supporting assessments and reporting requirements such as ESOS, SECR, ISO14064 and ISO14001.

Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be required to influence, educate and support colleagues at all levels of the business, helping to foster a positive environmental culture and drive continual improvement.
