Job summary

Russell Taylor Group in Ellesmere Port is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to join its Capital Projects team. You will own key environmental deliverables, navigate planning and permitting challenges, and influence project decisions on a multi-billion-pound portfolio of major infrastructural developments to shape the UK's low-carbon future.

You'll lead EIA workstreams, coordinate environmental consultants, and ensure regulatory compliance across onshore industrial and brownfield

Qualifications

• A degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
• Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (ISEP/CIEEM) or plan to achieve within 18 months.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental planning, permitting and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with EIA, environmental permitting and planning/environmental obligations.
• Experience coordinating consultants and managing project deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating environmental deliverables across multiple infrastructure developments.
• Managing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and environmental permitting applications and supporting technical studies.
• Providing expert advice on UK environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Supporting Development Consent Order applications and discharge of planning conditions.
• Managing environmental consultants and contracts, including financial oversight.
• Engaging with regulators, communities, project teams and external specialists to secure approvals.
• Ensuring environmental compliance, robust reporting, audit readiness and continual improvement across projects.
