Job summary

East Suffolk Council is seeking a Principal Environmental Protection Officer to lead and shape the Environmental Protection Team in Environmental Regulation. You will guide a small team, provide expert advice, and mentor officers to deliver high quality, customer-focused environmental health services across East Suffolk.

This role offers a permanent contract, 37 hours per week, with the opportunity to influence health and environmental quality across the district.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Health or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental health legislation, regulation and enforcement.
• Proven experience across environmental protection disciplines (nuisance, permitting, licensing, crime).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentoring to a small team of officers.
• Lead across statutory nuisance, environmental permitting, animal licensing and related areas.
• Drive service improvements and high standards of customer-focused environmental health delivery.
