Job Description

By joining us, you will work daily with technical experts within our established Environmental Impact (EIA) team, which comprises over 165 staff across the UK and Ireland. We are a founding member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark, and our work aligns with our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.

As we are a national team, we are flexible regarding office location, including offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington, and we support a flexible hybrid working model.

This position offers the opportunity to be involved in large-scale development projects, including:

  • Energy generation projects, such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, and renewables (large-scale solar, floating offshore wind)
  • Energy distribution and transmission projects (including the Great Grid Upgrade)
  • Carbon capture pipelines
  • Strategic rail projects
  • Highway improvements and greenway projects
  • Regeneration projects, including port developments
  • Developments in ecommerce, minerals and waste, water, defense, aviation, commercial, residential, and industrial sectors
Responsibilities
  • Provide Expertise: Coordinate environmental inputs for EIA screening, scoping reports, Environmental Statements, and other documents. Involve in all project stages from early strategy to operation, across various consenting regimes.
  • Ensure Quality: Maintain high standards in all deliverables with attention to detail.
  • Project Management: Develop skills by coordinating resources and budgets.
  • Collaborate: Work with design teams to improve environmental outcomes, identify constraints, and propose mitigation and benefits.
  • Client Contact: Engage directly with clients and internal teams.
  • Growth: Promote AECOM’s services, support business development, and contribute to proposals.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (preferably Masters) with professional membership.
  • Experience in EIA consultancy, including report preparation and technical review.
  • Understanding of consenting regimes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams.
  • Developing project management skills.
  • Commitment to innovation and professional development.
  • Experience with DCO or TWAO regimes is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong verbal and report writing skills, stakeholder engagement experience.
