Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Hydraulic Modeller with proven environmental experience and an interest in mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate is a dynamic team player with site-based work experience.

The role involves supporting our Catchment and River Restoration teams across various projects, including Natural Flood Management studies and River Restoration work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzing datasets, GIS, and modelling outputs.
• Providing technical advice on River and Catchment Restoration.
• Leading Environmental Hydraulic modelling (1D and 2D), especially in Hec-RAS and/or TUFLOW.
• Collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams to guide design.
• Writing and reviewing reports.
• Conducting geomorphology, river restoration, and NFM fieldwork.
• Mentoring junior staff.
• Managing projects to meet time, budget, and quality standards.
• Presenting at client meetings and engaging stakeholders.
• Leading tender submissions for new projects.

Location:

Flexible between our Saltaire (BD18 3LF) and Coleshill (B46 3AD) offices, supporting agile working.

Qualifications & Experience:

Seeking well-organized, motivated individuals with environmental experience and water/environmental passion. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.

Applicants should have broad experience in NFM and river restoration, understanding of fluvial geomorphology, hydraulics, hydrology, and ecology, and be willing to travel within the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications in geography or sciences, with proven professional experience, are required. Chartered status (ICE, CIWEM, CGeog) is valued, with a desire to attain chartered membership.

Essential Skills:

• Understanding of Nature-Based Solutions for catchment resilience.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams and explaining environmental benefits.
• Site-based fieldwork experience.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software (Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW).
• Knowledge of UK catchment hydrology.
• Project management and client relationship skills.
• Mentoring junior staff.
• GIS experience.
• Report writing and quality assurance.
• Valid UK driving license.

Desirable Skills:

• Understanding sediment transport, erosion, and deposition.
• Contract management experience.
