Braintree District Council seeks a Senior / Environmental Health Officer to join their Food and Health & Safety team. The role encompasses inspections, investigations, and consultation duties, offering flexible hours and opportunities for professional development. (FOOD AND HEALTH & SAFETY)
FULL TIME/PART TIME
22.5 - 37 HOURS (3-5 days) PER WEEK
£35,545 - £44,086 per annum or pro-rata. Salary dependent on experience and qualifications
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Food and Health & Safety team at Braintree District Council.
Working as a District Officer you will take on a wide range of duties including food hygiene and health and safety inspections, sampling and investigation work including accidents, health and safety / food complaints, infectious disease, food borne disease as well as special treatment registrations. You will also respond to planning and licensing consultations and will advise, educate, and take appropriate enforcement action where required.
We welcome full time and part time applicants and are offering 22.5 – 37 hours a week (3-5 days). Hybrid working is also available subject to business need. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with excellent communication and organisational skills. You must be able to work with minimal supervision and be flexible with your working hours as some out of hours inspections / visits will be required. You will have recent food hygiene regulatory experience and must meet the baseline qualification requirements of the FSA Food Law competency framework. Health and safety regulatory experience is desirable.
Ideally you will be a qualified, experienced Officer. However, candidates who can demonstrate that they are actively working towards their CIEH registration will be considered and we will offer the right candidate an opportunity to complete a structured programme of practical training to achieve success in professional exams and CIEH registration.
A suitable candidate holding the Higher Certificate in Food Control / Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control and CIEH registration who is willing to obtain a NEBOSH diploma would also be considered and would be supported to enable progression to become competent across the full remit of the team.
