Senior Environmental Health Officer (Environmental Protection)

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
Basingstoke
GBP 30,000 - 50,000
Job description

Senior Environmental Health Officer (Environmental Protection) (758)

Do you know your PHA 36 from your EPA 90? Can you issue CPNs for breakfast and Section 80s for lunch? Basingstoke and Deane needs someone like you. Come and join our dynamic Environmental Protection team in Basingstoke. We are replacing an officer who has worked in the team for over 28 years. People really like working here. The Regulatory Services teams do things properly, tea comes from a pot, coffee from a cafetiere and biscuits from a tin.

We are looking for a qualified, professional officer with vision and drive to deliver high quality services to our residents and businesses. We offer a flexible working package with excellent IT and a great office environment in our recently refurbished building. The offices are located next to the town centre and the War Memorial park. As a borough we have a diverse mix of the rural and the urban, all set amongst the stunning North Wessex Downs. What could be better (well, maybe a sea view but you can’t have everything).

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council offer a wide range of benefits, including a generous leave entitlement, access to discounts at nationwide retailers, flexible working, healthcare cash plan, pension scheme and much more.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Rhys Gilbert, Environmental Protection Team Leader on 01256 845272 or by email at rhys.gilbert@basingstoke.gov.uk.

What benefits do we offer?

At Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council we offer a wide range of employee benefits to recognise your valued contribution:

  • Generous annual leave allowance plus bank holidays
  • Local government pension scheme and Life Assurance
  • Salary sacrifice schemes for bicycles and electric cars
  • Access to discounts at nationwide retailers through our ‘B Rewarded’ perks discount site
  • Funded healthcare cash plan including optical and dental cover
  • Free flu vaccination vouchers
  • Access to a free and confidential employee assistance program
  • Support towards a variety of training, including professional qualifications, apprenticeships and wider technical and soft skill development courses

The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.
