Senior Environmental Consultant - Highways
Contract Type: 12-month
Rate: £299.31/day Umbrella
Location: Remote/Hybrid, ideally near Birmingham, Nottingham, Telford, or Stafford
Start Date: Early September preferred

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant to lead the environmental delivery on major infrastructure schemes under the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF), with Amey Consulting. You'll be working closely with in-house design teams, ecologists, and key stakeholders, providing leadership and technical input on environmental assessments across a wide range of highways projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on Environmental Impact Assessments and screening reports
  • Coordinate across disciplines (including ecology, drainage, geotechnical, and structures)
  • Liaise with National Highways, statutory bodies, and stakeholders
  • Guide and mentor junior environmental staff
  • Review reports and ensure compliance with DMRB and relevant regulations

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in EIAs/environmental screening within highways or infrastructure
  • Strong consulting background, ideally with project management responsibilities
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and report writing
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Understanding of environmental planning, regulation, and mitigation
  • Degree in Environmental Science or related subject; professional membership desirable
  • Valid UK driving licence
