Job summary

The Opportunity Hub UK leads English linguistic strategy for a cutting-edge data analytics platform in London. The Senior English Linguistics Lead owns the language philosophy, shaping semantics, tone and domain terminology for commercial insight.

You will build and guide a team of linguists, collaborate with engineering, ML, product and client teams, and define quality benchmarks to ensure rigorous language performance across releases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in computational linguistics, NLP, lexicography or applied English language research within a commercial environment.
• Postgraduate qualification in linguistics or computational linguistics, PhD is an advantage.
• Experience building or leading linguistic teams or functions.
• Deep understanding of how linguistic decisions shape NLP and ML system behaviour.
• Experience working with English language data in finance, law, regulation, healthcare or research.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication translating linguistic complexity into clear business value.

Responsibilities

• Set the overall linguistic strategy for English across the platform, including semantics, sentiment, tone, hedging and domain-specific terminology.
• Build and lead a growing team of linguists and language analysts, from junior to specialist level.
• Partner with engineering, ML, product and client teams to embed linguistic rigour into every release.
• Define quality benchmarks, evaluation methodologies and audit processes for English language performance.
• Drive innovation in how English is modelled within the platform, aligned with research and industry developments.
• Represent the linguistics function externally, including in client conversations, partnerships and thought leadership.
