Overview

First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Surveyor on behalf of one of our clients.

Support the Chief Engineering Surveyor and/or the Engineering Survey Manager in coordination across all technical work streams during each stage of a project, from PQQ through to construction. Technical work streams may include, but are not limited to, all engineering disciplines, design management, digital engineering, sustainability, engineering surveying, asset management, and industrialisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team, ensuring they have the correct training and knowledge to work safely.
  • Develop engineering survey teams to meet project needs.
  • Ensure the project has the appropriate survey control network to fulfill construction requirements.
  • Set out the works in accordance with contract requirements before work commences.
  • Share expert advice and guidance related to engineering surveying and geospatial best practices.
  • Provide topographical surveys for engineering works on site, including setting out, reports, measures, and final survey data.
  • Review with the engineering team that sufficient, correctly formatted information is available to set out the works, and resolve any inconsistencies.
  • Provide expert advice and cost estimation for geospatial needs.
  • Ensure geospatial technical expertise is available for the project.
  • Implement technological advancements to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead engineering survey requirements independently on projects.
  • Implement the engineering surveying strategy for 2022.
  • Ensure the project has the necessary survey control network.
  • Manage topographic survey deliverables required by designers.
  • Manage technical skills of the survey team and implement improvement plans.
  • Measure performance in setting out errors and BIM savings.
  • Assess the commercial costs of surveying.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Land or Engineering Surveying (Desirable) or ONC/B Tec in Land or Engineering Surveying, with previous experience as a Senior Engineering Surveyor.
  • Extensive knowledge of survey instruments, software, and methods.
  • Full professional membership of CICES or equivalent (Desirable).
  • People management skills.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK for project needs, typically for 2 years at a static site.
  • Valid UK driving license required.
