Job summary

Streamline Search Ltd. seeks an Engineering Design Manager in Witney, Oxfordshire to lead the Engineering and NPD activities from concept to production. The role collaborates with Production, Purchasing, Quality and Suppliers to drive robust product development and manufacturing readiness.

The ideal candidate has extensive senior engineering leadership experience, a practical hands-on approach, and the ability to balance cost, quality and delivery while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Senior engineering leadership experience (R&D/NPD/product development).
• Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams.
• Strong track record delivering NPD from concept to production.
• Solid knowledge of manufacturing/engineering processes.
• Experience with structured project management and governance.
• Resource planning and capacity management.
• SolidWorks proficiency is essential.
• Experience with PDM/document control systems.
• Understanding supplier development and supplier issues.
• Experience with quality systems, RCA and corrective actions.
• Strong KPI, data analysis and continuous improvement.
• Excellent organisational and programme management skills.
• Strong communication and people management skills.
• Commercial awareness balancing cost, quality and delivery.
• Hands-on engineering leadership with practical approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the Engineering team.
• Manage the NPD pipeline from brief to production release.
• Set project scopes, requirements and ownership.
• Plan resources across projects and manage budgets.
• Implement governance, reviews and risk management.
• Monitor milestones, risks and dependencies.
• Provide regular updates to senior management.
• Standardise NPD process from concept to production.
• Ensure design for manufacture, quality and performance.
• Lead DFMEA and risk management activities.
• Improve workflows, documentation and change control.
• Maintain CAD, PDM and document control systems.
• Support transition of new products to manufacturing.
• Collaborate with Production to resolve engineering issues.
• Develop relationships with UK and international suppliers.
• Lead supplier selection, technical reviews and tooling.
• Address NCRs and root cause analysis.
• Provide leadership to Quality function.
• Establish and monitor Engineering/Quality KPIs.
• Drive continuous improvement in Engineering/Manufacturing.
• Support ISO 9001 and relevant standards.
• Manage engineering budgets.
