Job description

Marshall Canada is seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager, Systems Engineering in Ottawa, ON. This leadership role reports to the Head of Engineering Functions and is responsible for spearheading systems engineering practices to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of products and solutions.

Your responsibilities include:
  1. Champion Effective Systems Engineering Practices: Lead efforts to establish and promote industry standards, methodologies, and tools across the organization.
  2. Team Leadership: Provide visionary leadership, set objectives, mentor team members, and facilitate professional development.
  3. Strategic Capability Planning: Develop strategic plans to embed systems engineering practices and drive continuous improvement.
  4. Technical Guidance: Offer expert guidance on complex engineering challenges and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  5. Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  6. Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between the team and stakeholders, articulating the value of systems engineering.
  7. Quality Assurance: Establish processes and KPIs to ensure effectiveness and value.
  8. Budget Oversight: Manage budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource allocation.
  9. Risk Management: Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor emerging technologies and trends.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • At least 8 years in systems engineering, with 3+ years in leadership.
  • Eligible for or hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license.
  • Proven leadership, technical capability, and knowledge of systems engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in regulated industries is a plus.
  • Certifications like PMP or INCOSE are desirable.
  • Ability to work remotely and travel as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and meet export control requirements.
