Job summary

DeepL is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Voice for Meetings to lead a small, senior team delivering real-time AI voice products. You will be hands-on enough to review code and shape architecture while mentoring engineers and hiring talent.

You will partner with a Principal Product Manager and the team’s senior technical lead to drive delivery, align technical direction with business goals, and manage trade-offs around latency and quality to accelerate impact.

Qualifications

• Managed engineers directly and owned a team’s delivery, performance, and development.
• Builder with strong technical skills, hands-on and not solely managerial.
• Led teams building real-time, streaming, distributed systems at scale.
• Credible with senior engineers; able to critique architecture and decisions.
• Pragmatic understanding of ML systems in production: inference, data drift, latency impact.
• Independent thinker with strong product and commercial instinct.
• Comfortable when priorities are evolving or ambiguous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team building DeepL's real-time voice products.
• Own hiring, performance management and career development.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of real-time voice features from architecture to production.
• Set technical direction and contribute code when needed to maintain quality.
• Collaborate with the Principal Product Manager and senior technical lead to shape what gets built.
• Balance latency budgets, model quality, and delivery timelines.
