AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the technical delivery of multi-disciplinary transportation projects in the UK. You will oversee engineering management on major rail and light rail programs and collaborate with clients and partners to ensure on-time, on-budget outcomes.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage budgets, and drive tender responses while coordinating cross-disciplinary interfaces across local, national and international teams.

Qualifications

  • Proven delivery of multi-disciplinary railway and/or light rail design and construction.
  • Experience in a technical management role.
  • Experience as a CEM.
  • Engineering degree qualification.
  • Chartered or Incorporated status in core engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of UK rail safety standards.
  • Proven track record of growing workbank.
  • Experience in heading responses to pre-qualification and tenders including pricing.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.

Join us as a Senior Engineering Manager in our Transportation Project Delivery Practice team, and you’ll have the opportunity to manage the technical delivery of an exciting variety of multi-disciplinary Transportation projects. You will lead Engineering Management on our major Rail & Transit projects alongside having the opportunity to support other markets including Strategic and Regional Highways and Local Transport. You’ll collaborate on projects across all stages of the project lifecycle and support our clients, which include Network Rail, Transport for London, Design & Build Contractors and many others. With such size, scope and scale, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to keep yourself challenged.

Your Role
  • Technical Leadership of Major Projects and Programmes in Transportation.
  • Leadership, supervision and preparation of engineering design packages for all types of rail and light rail engineering projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Managing of the Engineering Budget and Programme to ensure on time and on budget delivery.
  • Undertaking the role of Contractor’s Engineering Manager (CEM) on a range of projects.
  • Leadership of CSM/CDM requirements.
  • Creating a cohesive design team including local, national & international resources.
  • Ensure successful delivery of projects by co-ordinating cross-discipline interfaces.
  • Utilisation of systems thinking and systems engineering approaches to delivery assurance.
  • Building and maintaining close working relationships with our clients.
  • Preparation of pre-qualification responses, proposals and tenders.
  • Growing the Engineering Management workbank and seeking new opportunities.
About you
  • Proven Engineering Management delivery experience of multi-disciplinary railway and/or light rail project Design and Construction, with particular emphasis on the management and co-ordination of design activities.
  • Proven experience of a technical management role.
  • Proven experience in undertaking the role of CEM.
  • An Engineering or other relevant numerate degree qualification.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Status within your core engineering discipline (civil / electrical / mechanical).
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant safety, standards and regulations associated with the UK rail and/or light rail sector.
  • A proven track record of growing and maintaining your workbank.
  • Experience in heading technical responses to pre-qualification, proposals and tenders, including pricing elements.
  • Proven ability to mentor and support more junior colleagues in technical engineering design excellence.
