Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as Senior Engineering Manager (HVAC) on the Sizewell C Project and you’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you,

Sizewell C will create a 3.2 gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for at least 60 years. It will be built next to Sizewell B which began operating in 1995 and has so far avoided more than 76 million tonnes of carbon emissions. Our proposal is to build a new nuclear power station on the East Suffolk coast which will supply 6 million homes with low-carbon electricity.

This role will be hybrid with a minimum of 1-2 days per week at Aztec West, Bristol

What you'll be doing

Engineering Management of the HVAC Design during its definition, development
and implementation up to delivery on site.

  • This includes but is not limited to:
    Review and receipt acceptance of SZC Baseline definition of the design
    parameters.

  • Assuring Execution designers development of the Execution Design.

  • Work with Execution Designers to support development of their respective
    Design Lead Management Plan and acceptance of the plan prior to commencing
    Execution Design.

  • Ensure information issued to suppliers, manufacturers and installers (i.e.
    the execution designs) is consistent with the design information

  • Review and receipt acceptance of the output from Execution Design
    process to enable manufacturing & installation.

  • Technical support management through manufacturing and delivery.

  • Lead the assessment of the impact of design changes and the optimal means of implementing design changes into the MEHA's scope.

  • Support the development of business case needed to justify changes to the design through the SZC change process.

  • Produce/oversee the production of technical procurement specifications for bulk MEH items & materials (extracting the applicable information from the corresponding specifications and design inputs.


Who we're looking for

  • Demonstrable experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams on
    Mechanical, Electrical or Ventilation projects in a highly regulated sector,
    preferably in nuclear.

  • Engineering Management experience on similar, large-scale Engineering,
    Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects from concept design to
    commissioning.

  • Degree qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant technical discipline.

  • Member of relevant institute or significant demonstrable engineering
    experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council.

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant design discipline drawings with
    the ability to identify errors and non-conformance.

  • Working knowledge of Navisworks (or similar), Excel, Word and
    PowerPoint

  • Understanding of ISO9001:2015 and Construction (Design and
    Management) Regulations 2015.

  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management and Change
    Management processes.

  • Strong leader with collaborative nature and ability to reach sensible
    compromise positions.

  • Able to obtain a security clearance.
