We seek a highly-skilled, mechanically-biased Senior Engineering Manager to oversee planning, implementation, and maintenance of the Museum’s engineering and smart building systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and experience with smart building technologies.

This role focuses on the Museum's new landmark site at Smithfield, transitioning from construction to operations. You will also work across other sites (London Wall, Docklands, Mortimer Wheeler House) to develop unified monitoring and management approaches, enhance visitor experiences, and achieve operational excellence through innovative engineering solutions.

The successful candidate will be a smart building systems specialist, capable of evolving maintenance regimes from standard PPMs in line with SFG20 to data-driven, bespoke solutions.

Requirements include:

  • Proven experience managing engineering operations in complex environments, with strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in smart building technologies, such as building management systems and data analytics.
  • Relevant degree in building services engineering.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing technical teams, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of contract management related to engineering and facilities services.
  • Project management experience, especially in integrating new technologies into existing infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge of building services, preventive maintenance, and energy management systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills for diverse audiences.
