Senior Engineering Manager

The closing date is 01 June 2025

Times are changing here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals! We need you to come and help us evolve our forward-thinking and innovative Engineering Management Team.

As Senior Engineering Manager, you'll need to have both the experience and skills to navigate our complex state-of-the-art facilities whilst also maintaining our older estates. This role covers 172,000 square metres, presenting unique challenges and opportunities. It's a rewarding position where no two days are the same, and you'll be part of a fantastic team. You will have the opportunity to make a difference through the changes you identify and lead projects that support future generations.

To support this, we've increased funding to bring in additional Engineers to work with you and develop the team further. We promote professional development through education and training, encouraging those with relevant experience to join and grow their careers.

Main duties of the job

You will lead our in-house maintenance team, managing the Engineering Department to ensure all building services and equipment comply with statutory legislation and guidance. Our team comprises Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing trades supported by Engineering Managers, all directly employed NHS staff. We also work with external specialist providers where necessary.

Your strong, consistent background will help you lead and support the team, ensuring clear communication, engagement, and ongoing professional development through performance management and training.

This role is ideal for the right individual with effective skills, experience, and attributes to support the NHS in striving for excellence now and in the future.

You must demonstrate previous experience in planning and managing maintenance of building services in large, complex buildings.

The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with on-call duties for out-of-hours support. On-call payments are additional to the basic salary. The role includes NHS benefits such as a comprehensive pension scheme (14.3% employer contribution) and 27 days of holiday entitlement to start.
