Our client is a globally operating commercial real estate organization that delivers best-in-class facilities management and engineering solutions for their clients' commercial and residential property portfolios. Due to strong performance and the acquisition of additional properties, a new role has been created for an experienced engineering services or technical manager to join their technical team based in Central London. The role is Monday to Friday and involves oversight and support for a portfolio of 5-10 commercial multi-tenant buildings in Central London (West End, City). The manager will liaise with various FM service partners to ensure compliance and meet SLAs. The salary is open but ranges from £70,000 to £85,000, including a discretionary annual bonus, healthcare, pension scheme, and other benefits.

Candidates must be fully qualified in an engineering discipline (mechanical or electrical) with at least five years of experience in an engineering/technical management role, or alternatively, a technically qualified contract or account manager. Additional training such as IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH, HV/LV AP status, ACOP L8, etc., as well as engineering memberships, will be advantageous.

The key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading hard services management across locations, including budgets, schedules, procurement, quality & risk, statutory compliance, and governance.
  2. Developing and implementing maintenance management practices across sites, and leading service partners and teams to drive performance and best practices.
  3. Providing technical support for leased spaces as required.
  4. Sourcing regional contracts for technical products or services.
  5. Managing the Engineering Audit program for the UK client account.
  6. Driving cost reduction and sustainability programs.
  7. Using data-driven insights to deliver improvement strategies.
  8. Collaborating with energy and sustainability teams to identify best practices and innovations.
  9. Managing engineering budgets and forecasting with site facilities managers.
  10. Supporting client accreditations and certifications such as ISO50001, ISO55001.
  11. Maintaining regular communication with the client team to build relationships.
  12. Managing SLAs and KPIs to ensure contractual commitments are met or exceeded.
  13. Promoting high customer service standards and best practices.
  14. Ensuring business continuity plans are implemented to minimize service disruptions.
  15. Adhering to health and safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and staying updated with legislation and trends.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineering or technical manager aiming to join a leading firm in commercial real estate management in the UK. While experience on the managing agent side is preferred, candidates from facilities maintenance or service provider backgrounds interested in transitioning to client-side roles are encouraged to apply.

The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems, along with excellent stakeholder management skills, as it involves liaising with developers, property managers, and tenants. The position offers career development opportunities through training and promotion, with the company's growing reputation in the London and UK markets.
