Job description

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Buyer to join our team on a 6-month contract, based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This role benefits from our 4xFlex working pattern, offering a 4-day work week (Monday - Thursday) with hybrid working, typically 3 days onsite.

This role is part of the Lockheed Martin UK Supply Chain Organisation, managing the total supply chain for goods and services to meet various programme and business requirements.

Focusing on managing supplier delivery, it primarily supports development and production in Armoured Vehicles, Platform Integration, Special Projects, and Weapons areas to meet domestic and international needs. LMUK (Ampthill) has a worldwide supply base, mainly in the UK, Europe, Middle East, and the US.

Success requires experience in a functional organisation, with skills including relationship building, timely delivery, negotiation, and procurement management, from simple to complex subcontracts. The role involves working within multidisciplinary teams including Engineering, Operations, and Quality.

The role supports various programmes and activities across categories such as PCB's, box-builds, cable harnesses, mechanical, COTs, and MOTs.

Responsibilities may include:

• Undertaking procurement processes: issuing RFQs, tenders, negotiating terms, bid evaluations, and awarding contracts.
• Holding procurement delegations and signing supplier agreements and purchase orders within limits.
• Negotiating with suppliers for best value.
• Managing supplier performance against technical, schedule, quality, and cost requirements.
• Developing stakeholder relationships for mutual benefit.
• Ensuring compliance with internal and legislative procedures, managing risks.
• Acting as key interface between internal customers and suppliers to ensure clear communication and issue resolution.
• Supporting reviews of supplier performance.
• Contributing to supply chain process improvements.
