Senior Engineer - Vehicle Dynamics - Performance Senior

Position Title: Senior Engineer - Vehicle Dynamics - Performance Senior

Duration: Contract

Location: Hybrid Working - 2/3 days on site in West Midlands

Summary

  • Technical Responsible for planning and developing the Physical Dynamics Performance against K&C and Vehicle targets.
  • To plan testing, including vehicle/components request, testing procedure, data postprocessing and support for Virtual Correlation.
  • Very good knowledge of Objective dynamics metrics and experience with Instrumentation and Subjective assessment are required.
  • The role may include involvement in CAE development.
  • Collaboration with CAE engineers is key for success.

Responsibilities

  • Functionally Reporting to Vehicle Dynamics Senior/Lead Engineer.
  • Support Benchmark and Objective target definition via Testing.
  • Plan, Execution and Responsibility for Physical Dynamics Performance (K&C and Full vehicle) vs Targets (mainly EV / Hybrid vehicles).
  • Responsible for testing and tuning of hard point, bush, spring, damper, roll bar, wheel frequency, steering, tire specs.
  • To ensure tuning Components availability from Chassis.
  • Responsible for Physical Vehicle Setup sheets and Tuning steps cascading to Chassis function.
  • Create and Validate Testing Procedure to increase repeatability and efficiency (e.g. Ride/Handling/Steering/Braking procedures, post processing script etc.).
  • Collaboration with Development team is key.
  • Keep up to date with latest technologies in the industry.
  • Run Suppliers Technical meeting (e.g. tire specs, testing facilities).
  • Reporting and High-level message Clear communication are essential.

Core Requirements

  • High Theoretical vehicle dynamics knowledge.
  • High understanding of K&C axle data, Vehicle Dynamics Metrics, Targets and Testing.
  • High knowledge of vehicle Tuning techniques.
  • Expert in K&C and Full Vehicle Testing Procedures and Metrics.
  • Expert in K&C axle Full Vehicle Results Interpretation.

Desirable skills and Attributes

  • Methodical approach (e.g. 6sigma DMAIC) to problem solving.
  • Structured Reporting skills: Assumption/Target/Action/Conclusion/Recommendation.
  • Experience in Subjective/Objective feeling/data interpretation in reference to Customer perception.
