Working Conditions

Based in the Anthro design office, London, working 2-3 days a week, with site meetings at Old Oak Common once a week.

About the Role

Job Purpose

Lead the builders work in connection (BWIC) team at HS2 Old Oak Common Station for work package 23, focusing on the design and build of MEPHFC works, within the Anthro Joint Venture.

Manage the BWIC team, coordinate with MEPHFC designers, client BBVS, and third-party work packages.

This role involves:

  • Coordination of building services opening positions
  • Agreement on BWIC related to fire stopping solutions
  • Managing clash detection and resolution in federated models
  • Structural review of designs and proprietary systems
  • Facilitating meetings with clients and design teams
  • Mentoring junior team members
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the nominated Contractor’s Responsible Engineer Design (CRE-D)
  • Lead civil/structural design in compliance with relevant standards
  • Review and manage design documentation
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary activities ensuring standards and regulations are met
  • Manage resources, including junior engineers and CAD technicians
  • Ensure project compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Support safety and environmental risk assessments
  • Ensure legal compliance with RIR and other regulations
  • Share best practices across project teams
  • Support team growth through recruitment and mentoring

Reporting to Project Directors or Design Leads, with potential international project involvement.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in structural coordination of building services
  • Background in design and build projects
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience as Lead Engineer / CRE-D
  • Professional registration with the Engineering Council (UK)
  • Degree in relevant engineering field (BEng/MEng)
  • UK consultancy or contractor experience
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes, HS2, Network Rail standards
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Strong engineering, analytical, problem-solving skills
  • CITB CSCS scheme
  • Valid UK driving license
