WSP is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Engineer to join the Roads team based in Cardiff. Your role will be at the heart of our high-performing team, using your technical skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB).
  • Developing designs using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Delivering work packages with scope to manage schemes and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Supporting Project Managers within the design team in planning, programming, technical input to project briefs, proposals, deliverables, and cost estimation.
  • Checking, certifying, and authorising designs, documents, approvals, and reports for issue.
  • Managing graduate engineers and technicians to deliver work packages and coordinate engineering resources.
  • Collaborating with clients and key stakeholders to deliver schemes/projects.
  • Mentoring and upskilling junior staff to develop professionally and achieve qualifications.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent within a highway design role.
  • Working towards IEng or CEng status with a professional institute; professional qualifications are advantageous.
  • Highways design experience in accordance with DMRB.
  • Experience in complying with Designers Duties under CDM.
  • Experience in delivering geometric designs using AutoDesk Civil 3D is advantageous.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and procedures, including departures from standard.
  • NEC and/or Project Management experience is advantageous.
  • A passion for design and developing innovative solutions.
  • Initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems.
