Haskoning is seeking a senior engineer to deliver coastal and flood risk projects across the UK and Europe. You will lead design teams, drive feasibility to construction, and apply BIM and digital engineering in complex river/coastal schemes.
The role requires strong communication, planning, and the ability to manage multiple projects while mentoring junior staff and supporting bid activities.
Are you looking for your next career step? Do you want the opportunity to work on a broad range of fluvial and coastal flood risk management projects, utilising your technical skills and experience to help support our clients with the development of their projects? This role will provide you with this opportunity whilst working within a market leading climate resilience team.
We require an enthusiastic, optimistic, conscientious and talented senior engineer with excellent communication skills and technical ability. The candidate will need to be an efficient worker, enjoy the opportunities of a growth-orientated environment and must be able to work in a team and independently. The role will require close working with members of the various climate resilience teams across the UK and in Europe, as well as with staff across other Business Lines. The candidate will be responsible for the delivery of coastal and flood defence projects ranging from feasibility to appraisal studies, outline design, detailed design and support during construction. we are the lead designer for the prestigious, 4.5km-long Southsea coastal defence scheme in Portsmouth worth more than £160 million. The scheme is the UK’s largest Local Authority led coastal defence scheme and is being delivered as part of an integrated delivery team between Haskoning, Volker Stevin Boskalis Westminster (as lead contractor) and Coastal Partners (as client). New amenity, landscape and public realm features are included to deliver a once in a generation project that brings multiple benefits above and beyond a standard coastal defence scheme.
Holme Sluices spans the full width of the River Trent to the south of Nottingham and was built in the 1950s as part of a large scale flood defence scheme. It is a major Environment Agency operational structure that helps to protect Nottingham from flooding and controls river levels upstream. It is the largest barrier to the natural migration of fish in the Midlands. We are delivering the detailed design and are providing construction support for the biggest fish pass in the country which is currently being delivered in collaboration with the Environment Agency.
We supported the Bacton Gas Terminal operators and North Norfolk District Council in developing the detailed design of coast protection measures for the terminal and providing additional benefits to the downdraft village communities of Bacton, Walcott and Ostend. We developed the preferred Sandscaping scheme through to detailed design, using an iterative design process to help the client group to make an informed decision about the shape, volume and sediment size of the scheme.
