A little more about your role…

As a Senior/Principal Engineer, you will be pivotal in driving the delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects. You will use your knowledge and skills to deliver quality on time and within budget, mentoring and supporting junior team members.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Bridge design, both in the UK and overseas;
2. Bridge management;
3. Bridge strengthening and repair, inspections, and assessments;
4. General civil and structural engineering support to other teams;
5. Feasibility studies and options appraisals;
6. Preparation of documents, reports, health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, scheme feasibility studies, and outline cost estimates;
7. Preparation of estimates;
8. Supervision of junior team members and CAD technicians.

Our Civil and Bridge Engineering team in the South West & Wales comprises over 120 engineers, technicians, and project management professionals. Based in vibrant city centre offices, we work on diverse projects across rail and highways sectors for clients including HS2, Network Rail, and various local authorities and private clients. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

It is anticipated that you will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with experience including:

• Practical knowledge of bridge design, maintenance, and assessment from site and office work;
• Project management experience for bridge projects;
• Proven expertise in design, maintenance, and supervision of bridge and civil structures, including innovation in design and management;
• Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW standards related to structural schemes;
• Experience with Eurocodes and their application to bridge design;
• Design or assessment experience of steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete bridges;
• Familiarity with analysis software like LUSAS, Superstress, and SAM;
• Strong communication, client handling, and interpersonal skills, with adaptability and team development enthusiasm.
