The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for resolving highly complex network faults and acting as a final point of escalation for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Line teams. This role involves identifying and resolving complex network issues, delivering service requests, and performing network upgrades.

Responsibilities
- Ensure all escalated and Major Incidents are resolved within the Senior operations team or managed in conjunction with Technology partners.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of all customer networks.
- Identify and manage escalated faults with 3rd party suppliers for major incidents.
- Design and implement changes to existing customer networks to improve performance.
- Complete LLD reviews of new customers/projects as part of the operational acceptance process.
- Prioritize network improvement changes according to risk.
- Review and approve network changes to be presented to CAB.
- Collaborate with the Platform Engineering team to enhance network performance and resiliency.
- Support design and project teams on major projects for new and existing customers.
- Update technical documentation and diagrams for existing customers and services.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to other Capita teams.
- Provide out-of-hours support via a 24/7 rota as required.
- Manage and resolve incidents and service requests within contractual SLAs.
About You
- Technically skilled to Cisco CCNP/Juniper JCIP level, with certification or working towards CCIE/JNCIE.
- 5+ years of experience in a 3rd line network engineering role.
- Experience in network security (e.g., Cisco ASA, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Experience with load balancers (e.g., F5 Big-IP).
- Strong understanding of IP, MPLS, SDWAN, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, Wi-Fi within a managed service provider environment.
- Creative problem-solving skills to improve customer performance.
- Ability to design, implement, and document network improvements.
- Excellent knowledge of network monitoring systems, protocols, and techniques.
- Experience managing major incidents and conducting root cause analysis.
- Self-managed and team-oriented.
- ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
