Job description
Overview

At Heathrow, keeping our passengers, colleagues, and customers safe is our top priority. This role suits candidates with a qualification and background in Control Systems or Electrical Engineering, with a strong understanding of cyber security. The role oversees various engineering systems at the airport and collaborates with teams in operations, maintenance, development, supply chain, finance, and safety. The goal is to ensure asset replacement and compliance align with Heathrow's strategic objectives for efficient procurement, delivery, and planning. The ideal candidate communicates effectively at all levels, works well in a team, and is comfortable working independently. The role involves providing technical support to ensure a robust asset management strategy and overseeing a wide range of Operation Technology, interfacing with Fire systems, Mechanical, Water, Building Management, Electrical, Environmental, Rail and Security. This is a hybrid role, with on-site requirement of 3 days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Understand asset performance in terms of cost, service, and risk, working with maintenance, development, and supply chain teams.
  • Ensure the business is aware of asset risks and that operational teams have plans to manage them.
  • Provide expert support to Development and Maintenance teams to ensure assets are fit for purpose and support Quality Plans.
  • Offer technical knowledge and experience to operational teams to meet asset plans and strategy.
  • Incorporated Engineer status (or expected within 12 months) in Systems Control or Electrical and relevant asset management qualification.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance practices, methodologies, strategies, whole life cost principles, asset management principles, and related legislation.
  • Ability to influence at all levels, and provide advice to technical stakeholders and contractors.
  • Strong analytical skills to manage complex scenarios, drive continuous improvement, and develop robust solutions considering costs, performance, and risks.
  • Appreciation of cyber security methodologies including IEC62443 and ISO27001, with a passion to learn and develop in this space.
Qualifications
  • Incorporated Engineer status (or expected within 12 months) in Systems Control or Electrical and relevant asset management qualification.
  • Qualification and background in Control Systems or Electrical Engineering with a strong understanding of cyber security.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance practices, whole life cost, asset management principles, and related legislation.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and provide advice to technical Stakeholders and Contractors.
  • Strong analytical skills to drive continuous improvement and robust solutions.
  • Familiarity with cyber security frameworks (IEC 62443, ISO 27001) and willingness to learn more in this space.
Working & Location

This is a hybrid role; on-site three days a week. Working location: UK-based with commuting distance to Heathrow. Heathrow’s hybrid approach allows some roles to work from home an average of two days per week, depending on team needs and recruitment process decisions.
