We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior EICA Engineer based at Preston. Hybrid working is available, with an expectation to attend sites regularly.
You will report directly to the RDL and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design process and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards relevant to the contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be effectively constructed and commissioned. The term ‘cost’ includes design time, materials, erection, and the impact on other disciplines.
- Utilizing standard practices where possible, maintaining competitiveness, and providing estimates and feedback to the Proposals department.
- Working within procedures and processes to develop and review departmental procedures.
- Writing, updating, and monitoring procedures to ensure departmental efficiency.
- Coordinating designs with all disciplines internal and external to MWHT to ensure integrated contract execution.
- Maintaining files and records throughout the contract duration.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction by fostering a culture that values customer needs, including end users and internal departments.
- Maintaining a personal development plan.
- Assisting in supervising and developing staff.
- Ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
- Minimizing waste from departmental activities.
- Considering environmental issues in design processes.
- Ensuring all designs adhere to health and safety requirements.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Understanding the principles of water and sewage treatment.
- Experience managing staff in designing water and sewage treatment plants.
- Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
Preferable qualifications:
- Relevant discipline Engineering degree.
Minimum requirements:
- Relevant discipline Engineering HND.
- Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
- Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
- Flexible mindset with the ability to process large amounts of data.
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly and convincingly.
- Computer literacy.
- Driving license.
Desirable qualifications:
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Relevant Engineering Master's Degree.
