Job summary

Arqiva is seeking a design and development lead for audio processing systems, covering legacy and cloud-based solutions. The role focuses on designing, building and testing audio processing equipment and services to maximise performance and availability, with hybrid working and occasional travel to Winchester.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive standardisation, mentor engineers, and contribute to compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field advantageous.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.

  • Lead Design Authority role for end-to-end audio processing solutions and guidance.

Job description

Purpose
Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of audio systems and infrastructure, focusing on both legacy and cloud-based solutions

Location:Any Arqiva site (hybrid working), with occasional travel to Winchester.

Total Package

  • Between £42k - £60k depending on experience

Accountabilities

  • Design, build and test new Audio processing equipment/solutions to achieve maximum performance and availability.
  • Provide technical knowledge to the development and deployment of Audio processing service infrastructure, driving improved technical and service performance.
  • Design and drive processes to facilitate smooth and seamless operation of Audio processing services.
  • Develop, analyse, troubleshoot and modify Audio processing systems and solutions for broadcast and media, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with 3rd party suppliers, contractors and customers to meet delivery specifications and standards.
  • Standardise equipment to minimise disruption and achieve straightforward integration with existing networks/infrastructure.
  • Document Audio processing build procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures.
  • Apply safety and compliance standards in all aspects of Audio processing engineering.
  • Drive and apply best practice procedures to solve complex problems and identify appropriate resolution.
  • Adopt the role of Lead Design Authority (LDA) in area of Audio processing expertise for the delivery of the end-to-end customer solution and Design Authority (DA) when required.
  • Bring a commercial perspective to the operation, with a particular focus on cash management, cash preservation and optimising returns on investments made in assets and tools.
  • Contribute to accurate forecasting and capacity management for broadcast.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, network engineering, and field operations, to support the deployment and optimisation of Audio processing technologies.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Audio processing and industry trends.
  • Drive collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement within Audio processing engineering.
  • Provide technical leadership within the team, sharing knowledge and mentoring support to engineers and technicians.
  • Act as an escalation point for troubleshooting from junior engineers.
  • Support integration projects for legacy systems and cloud-based solutions.

Skills

  • Audio processing - Understanding of audio processing principles
  • Multiplexing - Proficiency in encoding and multiplexing technologies
  • Diagnostic tools - Proficiency in diagnostic engineering tools and software
  • Analytical and technical problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Communication skills - collaborate with cross-functional teams, present technical info and provide training or support
  • Project management - ability to manage one or multiple projects or project tasks and meet deadlines
  • Virtualisation & Cloud Computing – proficiency with virtualisation and cloud computing eg AWS, Azure, Google Cloud platforms

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and technologies.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.

Qualifications: A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is advantageous.
