Job summary

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Senior Engineer in construction or civil engineering.

• Experience managing technical queries and working with design teams.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and site teams.
• Familiarity with quality and engineering processes.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Background in live rail or operational station environments is advantageous.

A well-established specialist rail and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Engineer to join their project team on a major station upgrade project in North London.

This is a strong opportunity for a Senior Engineer with experience working within rail, civils, station upgrades or complex infrastructure projects to take a key engineering role on a high‑profile project.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager and wider site team, taking ownership of the engineering delivery and supporting the project from construction through to completion.

The Role

• Managing and coordinating engineering activities across the project
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
• Setting out and checking works on site
• Managing technical queries, RFIs and design changes
• Liaising with the design team, consultants, client and subcontractors
• Supporting the Project Manager with technical and engineering matters
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with the approved design
• Monitoring quality and ensuring relevant inspection and test plans are followed
• Producing and maintaining as‑built information
• Coordinating surveys and setting‑out requirements
• Assisting with planning, sequencing and methodology development
• Identifying potential technical issues and developing practical solutions
• Supporting junior engineers and helping to maintain high engineering standards across the project

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working as a Senior Engineer within construction or civil engineering
• Experience on rail, station upgrades, civils or infrastructure projects
• Strong setting‑out and engineering capability
• A good understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Experience managing technical queries and working with design teams
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and site teams
• Strong knowledge of quality and engineering processes
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience
• Experience working within a live rail or operational station environment would be highly advantageous.
• Candidates with a background in civils, structural works, station refurbishment, permanent way or other rail infrastructure are encouraged to apply.
