Job summary

Farrans in Glasgow, United Kingdom, is seeking a Civil Site Engineer to oversee daily inspection of onsite quality and to support the delivery of large-scale infrastructure works on time and within budget.

You will manage site engineers, support the Site Agent, ensure HSE and quality performance, maintain setting out and dimensional control, and liaise with stakeholders to resolve technical issues while complying with DWI and building regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent must-have qualification.
• 5 years’ experience on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably water sector.
• Ability to plan ahead and delegate tasks to the engineering team.
• CSCS / CSR card is essential.
• Strong knowledge of building regs, legislation and health and safety.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and planning abilities.

Job description

You will be primarily involved in the daily inspection of the quality of the work completed onsite. Alongside the site you will initiate continuous improvements to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget. This will ensure the customers expectations are met, whilst aligning the activities within the industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage site engineers and support the Site Agent and supervisors with the day to day running of the site
• Support the site agent to deliver exemplary health, safety, environmental and quality performance
• Responsible for quality control, understanding of specifications, and DWI requirements.
• Provide engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered
• Take a proactive approach to resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
• Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work

Qualifications

• Educated to degree standard in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• You should have demonstrable (5 years) of experience of being part of a large-scale infrastructure programmes of work ideally within the water sector.
• Ability to plan ahead and effectively delegate tasks to the engineering team.
• An appropriate and valid CSCS / CSR card
• Sound knowledge of latest building regulations, legislation and Health and Safety
• Working knowledge in Microsoft Office packages
• Full Manual UK driving license essential
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) and able to engage with all stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent attention to detail and meticulous planning and organizational skills
