Senior Energy Surveyor - Hotels (HVAC, BMS & CONTROLS) - Greater London / Home Counties

(CANDIDATES FOR THIS ROLE SHOULD IDEALLY HAVE HVAC & BUILDING MANANAGEMENT SYSTEMS EXPERIENCE IN THE HOTEL INDUSTRY.)

We are seeking a technically proficient Senior Energy Surveyor (HVAC/BMS) to conduct comprehensive building assessments focused on identifying energy-saving opportunities, with specialised expertise in HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and control technologies. Our core focus is the hospitality sector, particularly hotels, so prior experience working with hotel facilities and systems is highly desirable. This role requires developing technical specifications for contractor procurement and evaluating energy management, directly contributing to the reduction of operational costs through technical rigour and data-driven solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Site surveys & energy audits: conduct detailed inspections of building infrastructure to evaluate energy-saving potential, focussing especially on HVAC & refrigeration equipment, BMS platforms, and the control system(s).
  • Create technical specification documentation for contractor procurement to implement monitoring systems and automated control solutions.
  • Evaluation of various energy management applications regarding their technical capabilities, and then analysing building performance metrics from the selected solution, to identify optimisation opportunities on each project.
  • Interpret data from building management systems (BMS) to quantify energy savings and operational inefficiencies.
  • Deliver actionable recommendations through technical reports highlighting cost-saving measures and implementation roadmaps.

Candidate profile:

  • Proficiency in HVAC system types (i.e., chillers, boilers, pumps, VRF, FCUs etc), refrigeration systems and control systems including BMS (with technical knowledge of some of the major platforms)
  • Experience with energy auditing techniques including energy data analysis
  • Analytical skills: ability to translate technical assessments into procurement specifications for specialist contractors
  • Competence in evaluating software data analytics for energy performance
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting smart HVAC controls, BMS configurations, and connectivity issues
  • Experience working in or with hospitality properties, particularly hotels
  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or related field (preferred)
