You will work at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector, helping clients at district, campus, and masterplan levels to enhance the sustainability, efficiency, and resilience of their energy infrastructure.

Our UK Energy team, within Buro Happold Cities, comprises over 50 engineers, scientists, geographers, and commercialization consultants. The team works throughout the project lifecycle, from national-scale spatial energy system analytics to detailed design of innovative district energy and smart grid installations. The team is geographically distributed across London, Leeds, Manchester, and Edinburgh.

More about the role…

You will be deeply involved in projects, taking ownership of energy design and modeling, and collaborating with the wider Cities group to expand our energy consulting services. You will gain exposure to diverse projects, including urban development and infrastructure planning & design, while developing skills in client interaction, resource management, and program delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic low-energy design solutions for various projects.
• Supervising and monitoring the design process to ensure objectives are met and client requirements are reflected.
• Contributing to financial modeling of projects.
• Managing discipline input, resourcing, and task allocation.
• Producing clear, professional reports for clients and stakeholders.
• Keeping stakeholders informed of progress and consulting on risks.
• Supporting energy leadership in client and team relationships.

About you…

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Knowledge of the UK energy sector
• Experience in techno-economic studies
• Familiarity with low carbon technologies and industry standards in district energy systems
• Research and evaluation skills for new energy technologies and policies
• A degree in mechanical, energy, physics, or environmental disciplines
• Chartership or equivalent is desirable.
