Job summary
Ultra is seeking a senior software engineering leader to guide a 20-30 person team in embedded and application software across multi-discipline programmes in the Cyber UK Business Unit. You will set technical direction, define best practice processes and collaborate with hardware, systems and firmware teams to deliver high-quality software libraries and components.
You will mentor engineers, chair technical reviews and drive adoption of modern software development practices, including TDD/BDD,
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of C/C++, Rust and embedded development (RTOS).
- Experience with Windows and Linux app/driver development.
- Proven track record delivering complex software to schedule.
- Experience with version control, change control and bug tracking.
- Experience implementing CI and automated test tools/frameworks.
- Knowledge of MISRA and secure software development practices.
- Experience with UML/SysML tools (DOORS, RSA, EA) is advantageous.
- Degree in engineering, mathematics or science.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and influence across multiple projects to optimize architecture and toolchains.
- Develop software requirements, architectures and designs satisfying system and security constraints.
- Work with software leads to align with company processes and standards.
- Create development plans with project leads to deliver value early to customers.
- Mentor engineers and review significant technical documents and reviews.
- Ensure design consistency and re-use with system architects and broader teams.
- Generate technical proposals and provide effort/cost/risk estimates for bids.
