Job summary

Expleo is seeking an Embedded Design Authority Engineer based in the UK to lead the design and qualification of rocket motor projects. You will oversee from concept through to in-service support, ensuring compliance with BS8888 and industry standards, and leading critical design reviews with customers.

The role requires strong problem solving, documentation, and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team, contributing to advanced defence technology

Qualifications

• A formal qualification (minimum HND or equivalent) in mechanical, aeronautical, physics or related engineering discipline.
• Alternatively, a fully time-served engineer supported by recognised apprenticeship and / or equivalent demonstratable experience in a related discipline.
• Professional membership / Chartered Engineer (CEng) of a relevant institute e.g., Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Royal Aeronautical Society, Institute of Explosive Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Manage design evolution to meet customer requirements.
• Lead and complete DFMEA’s.
• Approve production processes and tooling.
• Lead trials readiness reviews.
• Lead formal design reviews (PDR, DDR, CDR) at the relevant design phases and ensure actions are taken and completed on time.
• Produce product technical specifications and detailed technical reports.
• Produce formal technical presentations to the customer.
• Demonstrate compliance with customer requirements.
• Liaison with suppliers and internal specialists.
