Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking a Senior Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to lead the Manufacturing Engineering team in Royston, driving PCBA testing capabilities and overall process improvements.

This hands-on role leads new product introductions, test equipment projects and data-driven improvements, collaborating with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and external suppliers while mentoring a small engineering team.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND or Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in electronics design and/or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong electronics design, measurement and diagnostic capability.
• Experience designing electronic circuits and PCB layouts using CAD/PCB design software.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills with high-sensitivity electronics.
• Experience with structured problem-solving methods (8D, A3).
• Understanding of firmware and software with some coding ability.

The Role

As a Senior Electronics Manufacturing Engineer, you will be a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for developing and improving PCBA and product testing capabilities, providing technical diagnostic support, and ensuring manufacturing processes operate reliably and efficiently.

You will take technical and project leadership responsibility for the introduction of new products, processes and automated test equipment, while working closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and external suppliers.

The role is highly hands-on and would suit an experienced electronics engineer with strong manufacturing, test and troubleshooting expertise who is comfortable leading projects and supporting a small technical team.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You will have significant experience within electronics design, electronics manufacturing engineering or a similar technical manufacturing environment, alongside a strong hands-on approach to troubleshooting and process improvement.

• +HNC, HND or Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related technical/scientific discipline.
• +Significant experience in an electronics design and/or manufacturing engineering role.
• +Strong electronics design, measurement and diagnostic capability.
• +Experience designing electronic circuits and PCB layouts using CAD/PCB design software.
• +Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, particularly with complex or high-sensitivity electronics.
• +Experience with structured problem-solving and root cause analysis, such as 8D, A3 or similar methodologies.
• +Understanding of firmware and software, with some basic coding/programming ability.
