Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Senior Technician to provide hands-on technical leadership in the manufacture, testing, integration and repair of electronic assemblies, PCBAs and wiring harnesses. You will supervise the electronics laboratory, mentor technicians, and work with engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes and quality.

The role requires IPC qualifications or equivalent, experience in aerospace or regulated industries, and familiarity with ECNs, 6S, and aviation standards.

Qualifications

• IPC certification or equivalent electronics manufacturing qualifications.
• Experience within aerospace, defence, autonomous systems or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of engineering change control and configuration management processes.
• Familiarity with Civil or Military Aviation standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience training or mentoring junior technicians and laboratory personnel.
• Experience working to 6S Methodology.
• Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).

Responsibilities

• Manufacture high-quality wiring assemblies and PCBA testing in line with IPC standards.
• Inspect, power-up, test and integrate PCBAs and wiring harnesses.
• Diagnose faults and rectify electronic and flight system hardware.
• Oversee ECNs and ensure changes are implemented accurately in the lab.
• Supervise laboratory staff and allocate tasks under the Head of Vehicle Integration.
• Maintain lab facilities, equipment and ESD controls for safe operations.
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure clear drawings and documentation for production release.
