Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Senior Technician to provide hands-on expertise in the manufacture, testing, integration and repair of electronic assemblies, PCBAs and wiring harnesses within its electronics laboratory. You will ensure high quality, safety, and compliance while supporting day-to-day lab operations and collaborating with engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electronic assembly, PCB testing, integration and fault-finding in manufacturing/aerospace/defence/high-tech environments.
• Strong knowledge of IPC standards and best practices for electronic assembly and inspection.
• Experience in wiring harness manufacture, PCB assembly and electronic system integration.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturing/test documentation.
• Familiarity with ESD control and laboratory management practices.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture high-quality electronic wiring assemblies per IPC and industry standards.
• Inspect, power-up, test and integrate PCBAs and electronic systems per procedures.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and rectify faults in electronic assemblies and flight hardware.
• Repair/modify flight hardware per procedures and quality standards.
• Oversee ECNs for the laboratory and ensure changes are implemented correctly.
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure clear drawings and documentation for production release.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and repeatability in manufacture and testing.
• Support planning of laboratory activities and priorities with the Head of Vehicle Integration.
• Inspect and rectify non-conforming assemblies per reporting and corrective actions.
• Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment and tooling for safety and efficiency.
• Coordinate ESD management, testing and compliance activities.
• Manage laboratory consumables and tooling levels for ongoing development.
• Provide guidance and training on assembly techniques and ESD controls.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance capability and quality.
• Ensure work complies with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
