Job summary

Oxford Instruments is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to design the next generation of high-performance analytical instrumentation. You will work in a multidisciplinary R&D team, developing electronics that power electron microscopy solutions with precision and low-noise characteristics.

You’ll design, test and validate advanced electronics, write embedded code and contribute to FPGA development, and collaborate with scientists and engineers to deliver robust products for SEM/TEM

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in analogue, digital and power electronics design.
  • Expertise in low-noise design and signal integrity for instrumentation.
  • Experience with FPGA development and embedded systems.
  • Proven ability to design complex multilayer PCBs.
  • Hands-on engineer who thrives solving complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of electronics design solutions across new product development projects.
  • Design analogue, digital, and low-noise circuitry for precision detectors and acquisition systems.
  • Develop and validate designs through simulation, prototyping, and testing.
  • Write embedded code and contribute to FPGA development (VHDL) for high-speed data handling.
  • Support transfer to manufacturing and maintain robust documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicists, software engineers, and system architects.
