Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join a small, dynamic team in the Devon region. The role covers electronics design, embedded systems, IoT and certification, taking projects from prototype to market-ready products.

You will lead PCB design and work with 32-bit MCUs, IoT devices and embedded interfaces. The position offers hybrid/homeworking options and significance in ongoing product development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics or related field, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Chartered Engineer or near-chartered status.
• Extensive hands-on experience with 32-bit MCUs and embedded systems.
• Experience with IoT devices and embedded interfaces.
• Strong PCB design experience, preferably Altium.
• Experience with SPICE and electronics simulations.
• Knowledge of electrical safety, EMC and radio standards.
• Experience taking products through testing and certification.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom PCBs for new products.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join a small, highly dynamic technical team.

You will play a key role in the development of new electronic products, taking projects from early-stage prototypes through testing, optimisation and certification to mature, market-ready products.

This is a hands-on engineering position offering the opportunity to work across electronics design, embedded systems, IoT, product development and certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom printed circuit boards (PCBs).
• Take electronic products from initial concept and prototypes through to production-ready designs.
• Work with 32-bit microcontrollers, IoT devices and embedded communication systems.
• Lead technical communication with suppliers and external partners.
• Identify, assess and mitigate technical risks throughout product development.
• Carry out testing, fault finding, troubleshooting and design optimisation.
• Lead product certification activities, particularly around IEC 61010 and EMC standards.
• Prepare and maintain technical reports, specifications and test documentation.
• Work closely with firmware, mechanical and other engineering disciplines.
• Support the continuous improvement and development of existing and future product ranges.

Skills & Experience

• Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Chartered Engineer or near-chartered status .
• Strong practical experience with 32-bit microcontrollers and embedded systems.
• Experience developing IoT devices and embedded communication interfaces.
• Strong PCB design experience, ideally using Altium Designer.
• Experience with electronics simulation tools such as SPICE.
• Good understanding of electrical safety, EMC and radio communications standards.
• Experience taking products through testing, certification and development into production.
• Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team
