Job description

Our premium brand Automotive client is currently recruiting for the following role:


Senior Electronics Engineer - Automotive - £33.88 (Inside IR35) - Midlands - 12 Months

Position Description:
Joining the electrical distribution system (EDS) team working on HV Battery wiring harness & junction box design.


Responsibilities to include:

  1. Lead the delivery of the HVJB commodity including geometry, cost, weight, quality, validation, sourcing and functional performance, providing technical guidance to the junior engineers working on the design.
  2. Ownership of core Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), including related documents (e.g. boundary and interface analysis).
  3. Drive a robust integration between 3D CAD, Circuits, complexity and 2D drawings ensuring full alignment.
  4. Create / provide all the required documentation / plans to support virtual builds, validation plans (PDP181, 5 step validation plan).
  5. Liaison with key suppliers to develop technology roadmap and support standards development and issue resolution.
  6. Lead cross functional root cause analysis and resolution of issues using 8D / Six Sigma Methodology.
  7. Escalate and communicate issues and roadblocks for arbitration suggesting solutions to powertrain and vehicle management.

Skills Required:

  1. Previous experience of engineering components in the automotive sector.
  2. Experience of design and / or validation of electrical components.
  3. Prior knowledge of: Wiring Harness / High Voltage Junction box / Fuse box, willing to consider transferable skills from other electrical parts.
  4. Evidence of ability to do Failure Mode Avoidance & work focusing on engineering quality and validation.
  5. Skilled in FMEA / DFMEA / PFMEA / authoring design rules / requirements / validation of component against requirements.

Experience Required:

  1. Degree in STEM subject - experience of subsequent design work on electrical components.

Experience Preferred:

  1. Desirable experience of working with High Voltage components.

Hybrid working possible.
Warwickshire is home site, work from other client Midlands sites as required.
