Holt Executive is partnered with a leading electro-optics design and manufacturing business, seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join their expanding Engineering team. If you are passionate about innovation and leadership in electronics design, this role is for you.


As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will play a key role in developing cutting-edge electronics and leading a talented team. Your expertise will drive innovation, ensuring high standards of engineering practice and project success.


Key Responsibilities for the Senior Electronics Engineer:
  1. Expertise in circuit design, components, and PCB technology.
  2. Work in EMC, Power Management, Servo Control, processor interfacing, and communications.
  3. Define and review overall architecture, including power management and system wiring.
  4. Lead by example, setting standards for good engineering practices.
  5. Drive innovation within the department, regularly communicating with senior management, customers, and stakeholders.
  6. Lead the development or enhancement of technology, providing subject matter expertise for R&D projects.
  7. Technical leadership of multi-disciplined projects, fostering a systematic approach and delivering solutions to customers.
  8. Provide insights into resource planning and support other engineers through training and development.

Key Skills and Experience for the Senior Electronics Engineer:
  1. Strong degree in a related discipline accredited by the IET, with typically 6 years of relevant experience.
  2. Proven experience in leading or supervising projects or teams.
  3. Solid theoretical and practical understanding of electrical and electronic designs.
  4. Ability to perform analysis-based activities such as circuit emulation and power budgets.
  5. Capability to assess and highlight key project risks and design activities.
  6. Awareness of the full project lifecycle from bid development to customer support.
  7. Proven track record of innovation-based approaches in engineering and leading, managing, or mentoring engineers.
  8. Ability to investigate and fault-find technical problems at PCB or system level.
  9. Experience with Embedded Software Design, including ARM/KEIL.
  10. Knowledge of EMC to military standards and managing issues at architecture and embedded levels.
  11. Understanding of motors and drive technology, with skills in control systems analysis.
  12. Proficiency in analysis and simulation tools such as Python, MATLAB, Simulink, LT-Spice, Simetrix.
  13. Familiarity with management tools like JIRA, Confluence, MS Project.
  14. Expertise in PCB design tools such as Altium, Cadence OrCAD.
  15. Familiarity with design resilience techniques like Failure Mode Effects Analysis.
  16. Awareness of Lightning Direct and Indirect Effects.
