Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc in Ashford (Kent) is seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to lead electronic system and PCB design for unmanned target vehicles within the QinetiQ Target Systems department. You will work closely with mechanical and software engineers to ensure performance, safety and regulatory compliance across a family of products.

The role includes detailed analogue/digital design, design records, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Designing electronic products.
  • Good working knowledge of PCB and component level circuit design.
  • Hands on experience of using electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Competent in technical report writing.
  • Using structured and documented work methods.
  • Designing RF products (desirable).

Job description

As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you'll require a strong understanding of Electronic Design Principles and will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and software engineers, to ensure all systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for the design and development of electronic systems and payloads for a family of Unmanned Target Vehicles within our QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) department. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the‑art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems including the world leading Banshee target.

Essential Experience
  • Designing electronic products
  • Good working knowledge of PCB and component level circuit design
  • Hands on experience of using electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Competent in technical report writing
  • Using structured and documented work methods
  • Designing RF products (desirable), Degree qualified in a relevant field or have equivalent experience and have a minimum of 5 years' experience in an electronic engineering development environment
